A 90-day feeding trial was conducted to study the effect of replacement of soybean meal with breweries waste on growth performance of Catla catla fingerlings. Soybean meal was replaced by breweries waste @ 0, 15, 30 and 45% in the diet containing 55% soybean (Control) in treatments F1, F2, F3 and F4, respectively. The net weight gain (g) was 2.55±0.25, 3.25±0.15, 1.55±0.56 and 1.22±0.10 g in treatments F1, F2, F3 and F4, respectively. The net weight gain and protein efficiency ratio was significantly (P<0.01) higher in F2 vis-à-vis other groups. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly (P<0.01) lower in F2. Specific growth rate, survivability and specific feeding rate did not differ significantly among the feed treatments. Daily growth co-efficient and temperature growth co-efficient was significantly (P<0.01) higher in F2. The carcass composition analysis revealed that the carcass protein and lipid differed significantly (P<0.05) among different feed groups. Carcass zinc content was significantly (P<0.05) higher in F2, however, iron and manganese content were similar in all treatments. Water quality parameters were within the normal range for fish production. The study revealed that breweries waste can be incorporated upto 15% level with other feed ingredients in the feed of Catla catla fingerlings without any adverse effect.
