The study was conducted to determine chemical composition and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of corn distiller's grains with solubles (DDGS). DDGS, a co-product of ethanol production process, high nutrient feed is used in livestock industry. The values of DM, CP, EE, CF, TA and NFE in corn DDGS were 89.7, 30.0, 9.8, 8.4, 4.5 and 47.2%, respectively and the corresponding values in wet distillers grains with solubles (WDGS) were 29.9, 30.8, 10.3, 8.6, 4.1 and 46.1%. NDF, ADF and hemicelluloses contents were found to be 38.9, 15.1, and 23.8%, respectively with corresponding values of 40.4, 16.6, and 24.0% in WDGS. The IVDMD of DDGS and WDGS was 69.36 and 69.78%, respectively. Mineral composition in maize, rice, sorghum and wheat DDGS with respect to Ca was 0.12, 0.09, 0.09 and 0.12%, for phosphorous 0.83, 0.42, 0.8% and 0.89%, for magnesium 0.28, 0.28, 0.29 and 0.30% and for potassium 1.11, 1.07, 1.17 and 1.22%, respectively. TDN content was 92.16, 77.14, 82.10 and 81.96% in maize, rice, sorghum and wheat DDGS, respectively. TDN content was highest in maize DDGS and lowest in rice DDGS. Similar trend was observed for TDN level of WDGS. The digestible energy content was found to be 4.06, 3.42, 3.61, 3.61 and 4.00, 3.51, 3.62 and 3.60 Mcal/kg in DDGS and WDGS of maize, rice, sorghum and wheat, respectively. It was concluded that, distillers byproducts are rich source of crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and minerals and also superior in digestibility. Hence, DDGS and WDGS can be a good non-conventional feed for ruminants and non ruminants.
