Eighteen growing goats (3–4 months of age) were divided into 3 groups to evaluate the effect of replacement of concentrate mixture with hydroponically grown maize fodder on performance of goats. Growing goats in group T0 were fed basal diet (control) while in groups T1 and T2 concentrate mixture was replaced by hydroponics fodder to the extent of 25 and 50%, respectively. The dry matter intake, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio were similar in all the groups. The DM and CP digestibility was higher (P<0.05) in group T2 replacing concentrate at 25% with hydroponics maize fodder. The CF and NFE digestibility was higher (P<0.05) in control group, however, it was comparable to group T2. The cost of production per kg gain was lower in groups fed 25 or 50% hydroponic maize fodder. Thus, it is concluded that hydroponic maize fodder could replace concentrate mixture up to 25% for economical raising of growing goats.
