A study was carried out during rabi, 2010–11 to 2016–17 in 23 villages across 4 blocks of Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir in temperate Bhaderwah region. Results of the study revealed that average yield of fodder oats under FLD plots varied from 330.0 q ha−1 to 403.1 q ha−1 whereas, under the farmers’ practice, it varied from 238.1 q ha−1 to 297.5 q ha−1. Average technology gap was to an extent of 79.1 q ha−1. Extension gap of 101.5 q ha1 and technology index of 22% were recorded. There was an increase of 37.5% green fodder yield over the farmers’ practice though proximate composition remained similar irrespective of the variety and village or year of harvesting. Hence, a high level of technology gap showed that the interventions demonstrated need location specific refinements for their desired impact on productivity of oats fodder.
