Abstract

Nylon bag degradability of DM and N in seven different tree leaves and forages of Bangladesh has been studied. The highest and lowest CP contents were 28.12 and 0.95% in ipil-ipil and mango leaves respectively. The rumen DM disappearances of different tree leaves at 48 hours of incubation were 74±1.4, 27±3.2, 73±0.3, 37±0.6, 74±1.4, 54±0.4 and 36±0.7% for ipil-ipil, banana, napier, bamboo, jack fruit, mango and manler leaves respectively. The effective protein degradation rate at rumen outflow rates of 2.2, 4.4 and 6.6 per cent per hour in different tree leaves have been estimated and discussed.
