A long term experiment was conducted on 15 Brown-Swiss X Hariana male calves of 6 months age divided in 3 equal groups and fed rations containing 0, 50 and 75% deoiled karanja (Pongcmita glabra vent), cake (DKC) after substituting deoiled groundnut cake (DGNC) on iso-nitrogenous basis. Feeding of DKC had no adverse effect on RBC and WBC counts, PCV and Hb, Fe, Ca and P contents of blood. The urine constituents and water, fat, protein and ash contents of body did not differ significantly (F > 0.05). But blood plasma protein content was significantly lower (P<0.05) at 75% level of DKC incorporation. The results suggested that DKC could be included upto 50% N-replacement of DGNC in growing calf rations without any harmful effect.
