True Metabolizable Energy Contents of Certain Feedstuffs for Chicks

Abstract

Using white leghron cockrels of 9 weeks age, the true metabolizable energy (TME) values of certain feedstuffs, viz., maize (Zea mays), rice (Oryza sativa) polish, sorghum (Sorghum vulgare), barley (Hordeum vulgare), kangni (Seiaria italica), kodo (Paspalum scorbiculatum), ragi (Eleusine coracana), wheat bran, deoiled rice polish, groundnut cake, GNC (undecorticated), ramtil (Guizotia abyssinica) cake, sesame (Sesamun indicum) cake, soybean (Glycine max. Merr) autoclaved, soybean (extraction) and jowla fish were determined and were found to be 4112, 3731, 3398, 2735, 3319, 3136, 3280, 2946, 2201, 3002, 2739, 3112, 2462, 3674, 2541, and 3114 Kcal/kg feed, respectively.
