An experiment was conducted in a randomised block design to study the morphological characteristics, chemical composition and nutrient value of seven varieties of sorghum (Pusa chari 1, Pusa chari 2, Pusa chari 3, Rio, H. 1, M.P. chari and SSG 59-3). The highest plant height was recorded in H. 1. variety (304 cm) followed by Pusa chari 3 (301 cm) and Pusa chari 2 (296 cm). The green and DM yield was highest in Pusa chari 1 (333.66 and 111.20 q/ha respectively) followed by Rio (271.66 and 91.30 q/ha) and lowest in SSG-59-3 (192.50 and 67.88 q/ha respectively). The content of CP, EE, CF, NFE and mineral matter in Pusa chari 1 was 8.49, 1.45, 35,70, 48.38 and 5.96 percent respectively. Pusa chari 1 also had highest yield of DCP (4.16 q/ha) and TDN (61.46 q/ha).
