Cobalt and manganese balances were determined in 3 month old male kids. The daily intakes and retentions were 75.35±2.73 and 43.18±4.99 for cobalt and 312.69±12.27 and 71.80±18.92 µg/kg body weight/day for manganese respectively. The percentage excretion in faeces and urine was 41.61 ±5.00 and 1.99±0.57 for Co and 77.86±4.95 and 0.00 for Mn respectively. The mineral balances were positive in all the kids. The experiments suggested that faeces was the main channel through which dietary Co and Mn were excreted.
