Abstract

In the process of Coprinus fimetarius inoculation at 5% level to urea treated wheat straw for 3 weeks, the DM loss ranged from 6.25% (control) to 28.39% with 4% urea treated straw+mineral solution hut it ranged from 5.90% (control) to 20.02% with 5% urea treated straw without any mineral solution. The same trend was noticed with respect to protein content and lignin degradation activity. By virtue of the fast growth of Coprinus fimetarius, the pH, ADF, NDF and hemicellulose decreased in all the treatments. Acid insoluble ash increased in the urea as well as fungal treated samples. The fungal treatment of 4% urea treated wheat straw with minerals was found to be better than other treatments.
