Bajra (pennisetum typhoictes), a dual purpose draught resistant fodder, contained more amount of oxalate in the early stage than in the late stage of its growth. Similarly, leaves had higher amount of oxalate than the stem. Bajra fodder with leaves and stems at pre-flowering stage contained 2.12 per cent oxalic acid. It was observed that soaking bajra fodder in water (1 : 10) for 30 minutes two times in succession reduced the oxalic acid content to 0.69 per cent.
