The mycelium of different fungi, after extraction of cellulase enzyme was mixed with de-glucosed bagasse during the solid state fermentation conditions with corn steep liquor and (NH4)2 SO4 + urea as N sources. On the solid biomass, significant increase in N and decrease in C percentage was noticed. Corn steep liquor was found better than urea and (NH4)2 SO4 mixture as N source. The influence of T, reesei QM9414 and ITCC 1662 inoculation under solid state fermentation gave maximum soluble protein (9.62 and 9.48 per cent), fermentative value (21.43 per cent and 21.11 per cent), C:N ratio (11.96 and 14.65) and could serve as protein rich animal feed material.
