The nutritive value of inactive dry yeast (IDY), a byproduct of alcohol industry, has been evaluated in three set of experiments with growing broiler chicks. The net protein utilisation (NPU) value of IDY was found to be 41.4 ± 2.1. The ME value determined at 20, 30 or 40 per cent dietary inclusion level of IDY was found to be 1605 ± 44, 1852 ± 56 and 1932 ± 97 kcal MEn/Kg of IDY respectively. Supplementation of diets containing 10 per cent IDY with 0.1 or 0.2 per cent methionine significantly (P < 0.01) improved the performance of chicks over those fed other diets.
