Difference between sheep and goats (6 each) exclusively fed on maize silage for DMI was non-significant; however, digestibility of DM, OM, CP and CF was significantly (P < 0.05) higher in goats than in sheep. All the experimental animals were on positive N, Ca and P balances. While the TDN intakes were much higher than the requirements in both the species, the DCP intake from maize silage in goats was much lower than their requirement. In both species wider protein : energy ratios were recorded, indicating that maize silage should necessarily be supplemented with protein rich feeds.
