Eight Black Bengal goats (18.0 ± 1.02 kg) were fed on fresh Subabul (Lencaena Leucacephala) foliage (young and newly developed leaves and shoots) ad libitum for 56 d. The average DM intake was 24.6 g/kg body weight. The subabul foliage contained 15.77 per cent DCP and 69.57 per cent TDN on DM basis. The average daily retentions of N, Ca and P were 3.02 ± 0.12, 4.20 ± 0.91 and 1.17 ± 0.85 g/d respectively. The haematological and biochemical constituents did not vary on feeding subabul foliage. No symptoms of excessive salivation or loss of hair were observed.
