Abstract

Three hundred and sixty broiler chicks were fed varying levels of energy (2800, 3000 and 3200 Kcal ME/kg) and protein (Starter—20, 22, 23 and 25 per cent; grower—18, 20, 22 and 24 per cent and finisher—16,18,19 and 21 per cent) with constant level of limiting amino acids. Except the drawn weights, the other carcass traits (Dressed and eviscerated weights) as well as weights of vital organs like liver and heart were not significantly influenced by energy and/or protein levels of the diet. The spleen weights were lowest while the pancreas weights were highest in broilers receiving 2800 Kcal ME/kg diet. The pancreas weights of broilers receiving 25-24-21 per cent protein in starting, growing and finishing phases of growth were the highest.
