Twelve adult Deccani rams were randomly divided into 2 equal groups and were fed either on artificially grown green fodder (AGF) or green NB-21 ad lib as sole roughage sources in addition to 200 g concentrate mixture per day. The DMI was significantly (P < 0.05) lower but N balance and digestibilities of all nutrients were higher in animals fed on AGF than those fed on NB-21. Higher (P< 0.05) Ca and P balances were recorded in animals fed NB-21 fodder than AGF. The animals fed on AGF were on higher plane of nutrition compared to those fed on NB-21 as roughage source indicating that AGF was nutritionally superior to NB-21.
