Forage sorghum (variety SSG 59-3) and sunhemp were grown in different row proportions viz. 4:1 (T1), 3:2 (T2), 2:2 (T3), 2:3 (T4) and 1:4 (T5) to study the effect of mixed cropping on forage yield and chemical composition. Green forage production (q/ha) was maximum with T2 (608.10) and lowest with T5 (541.20). Dry forage production was significantly (P < 0,05) higher in T2 and T3 as compared to other treatments. Per quintal (100 kg) cost of production of green fodder was, however, not significantly different among the various treatments. CP, CF, cell wall constituents, cellulose and lignin contents increased gradually from T1 to T5 whereas EE, NFE, hemicellulose and silica contents decreased gradually in the same order.
