Abstract

Field trials were conducted on acid soils (ALFISOL) under mid altitude (1000m) condition of Meghalaya to study the effect of liming with N and P on yield and quality of maize fodder. Application of 2 metric ton lime ha-1 increased fodder yield by 18.8 and 22,9 per cent at 40 and 80 kg N ha-1, respectively. Similarly, liming in conjuction with 40 kg P2O5 ha-1 increased yield by 23.8 per cent. Liming with N or P had no appreciable affect on fodder quality.
