The organic and inorganic Se toxicities were induced in buffalo calves by feeding Se enriched rice straw and sodium selenite, respectively, and haematological constituents in blood were compared with ordinary paddy straw and wheat straw fed animals in a 42 d experiment. The haemoglobin concentration and packed cell volume decreased in Se fed groups especially in inorganic Se group. No change was noticed in total, differential or absolute leukocyte counts.
