Abstract

Subabut (Lencaena leucocephala) leaf meal (SLM) contained CP 24.9, EE 7.68, CF 9.03, NFE 43.71, total ash 14.47 per cent besides 4.04 per cent mimosine and 8.08 per cent tannins. The quality of protein was good as observed from the amino acid composition of SLM. Mimosine was detoxified by applying solution of 12.6 g FeSO4/kg SLM. Similarly, tannins were inactivated by the application of 6g Ca (OH)2, 2g NaOH and 10 per cent NH4OH solutions for every 100g SLM.
