Twelve male Murrah buffalo calves (12 m; 116-122 kg) were divided into two equal groups and fed on guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) meal (GM) + wheat straw ad lib (gp. I) and groundnut cake (GNC) + wheat straw ad lib (gp. II) for 52 m to provide ME 50 : 50 from concentrate and roughage parts. The LH profile was higher in gp. I than gp. II during 36-41 m but at 50-52 m the LH levels in both the groups stood elevated. The plasma testosterone levels remained higher in gp. I than gp. II throughout the experimental feeding period. At 50-52 m of age, 3 out of 6 animals of gp. I started giving ejaculates with motile sperms, while in gp. II none of the bulls donated semen. The findings suggested positive response in sperm motility, plasma LH and testosterone levels on feeding guar meal.
