Chaffed paddy straw (UPS) treated with 4 per cent urea at 50 per cent moisture was fed either fresh (FTPS) or stored for 28 d before feeding (STPS). UPS and 2 kg concentrate mixture were fed to each animal in control group. FTPS and STPS were fed alongwith 1.5 kg concentrate mixture to each of the 6 animals In groups II and III, respectively. In addition, 1 kg green fodder was fed to each of the experimental animal in a 210 d study. The average daily gain in weights were 256.16 ± 17.8, 219.67±24.54 and 350.83 ±15.61 g, respectively for control, FTPS and STPS groups. The gain and feed efficiency ratio In STPS group was significantly higher (P<0.01) than in other groups.
