Effect of various levels of energy, protein and limiting amino acids on the retention of Ca, P, Mn and Zn was studied on starter, grower and finisher broilers during winter season. When compared with 2800 Kcal ME/kg diet, mineral retentions were higher cither with 3000 or 3200 Kcal ME/kg diet. Retention of Ca, Mn and Zn in starter, Ca in grower and P, Mn and Zn in the finisher starter, Ca in grower and P, Mn and Zn in the finisher were less, (P<0.05) in broilers receiving 2800 Kcal ME/kg diet. However, retention of other minerals in different phases of growth varied non-significantly due to energy levels of the diet. Increasing levels of dietary protein had positive effects on the minerals retention but higher retentions (P<0.05) were noted only of phosphorus in starting phase, all the four minerals in growing phase and P, Mn and Zn in finishing phase respectively. The effect of maintaining fixed levels of limited amino acids in proportion to the level of protein did not influence the minerals retention in different phases of growth in broilers.
