Autoclaving the DORB (120°C, 15 psi for 3 min) decreased cell wall constituents (hemicellulose by 43.9% and cellulose by 9.9 %) and increased total cell contents (by 28.1 %) and available carbohydrates (I.e., glucose by 113 %) and starch (by 12.4%). Ninety-six wk old broiler chicks were divided into 4 groups and maintained on 0, 10, 15 or 20% autoclaved DORB containing diets for S wks. Weekly body weights, group Feed consumption and feed conversion ratios were not affected by treatment diets. The percentage utilization of nutrients and balances of N, Ca or P were not affected-by the levels of autoclaved DORB inclusion. ME value of the diets and meat yield of birds maintained on different diets were also similar. Autoclaving thus did not improve the nutritive value of the DORB.
