Eight crossbred (Gir/Rathi x Red Dane) male calves (9-12m, 72-82 kg) divided into two equal groups and fed ground corn cob heart (Gp I) and corn cob husk (Gp II) ad libitum for 40d. The per cent TDN and DCP contents of corn heart were 68.63 and 2.48 and that of corn cob husk were 74.98 and 1.82, respectively. The DMI in kg/100 kg body wt and g/kg w0.75 were 2.82 and 56.58 forn corn heart and 2.63 and 44.97 for corn cob husk, respectively. The NVI of corn heart and corn cob husk were 84.70 and 79.95, respectively. The rumen retention and mean retention times were 101.7 h and 83.7 h for corn heart and 89.0 h and 723 h for com cob husk.
