The Conversion of ME as protein and fat was higher (P<0.01) in broilers receiving 3200 Kcal ME/kg diet containing 20 per cent CP in starter and grower and 19 per cent CP in finisher rations. The ME utilization for protein synthesis was higher in broilers receiving 2800 Kcal ME/kg diet with 23, 22 and 16 per cent CP in starter, grower and finisher rations respectively while for fat synthesis it was significantly (P<0.05) higher in broilers receiving 3200 Kcal ME/kg diet with 25 and 19 persent CP in starter and finisher and 3000 Kcal ME/kgdiet with 22 per cent CP in grower rations. The ME required/unit growth was maximum in broilers receiving 3200 Kcal ME/kg diet with 20 per cent CP in starter and grower and 3000 Kcal ME/kg diet with 19 per cent CP in finisher rations. The ME used for maintenance was maximum in broilers receiving 3000 Kcal ME/kg diet with 22 and 16 per cent CP in starter and finisher and 3200 Kcal ME/kg diet with 18 per cent CP in grower rations.
