Growth Performance and Carcass Quality of Large White Yorkshire Pigs Feed on Various Levels of De-Oiled Mustard (Brassica juncea) Cake

Abstract

Forty large white Yorkshire piglets (7-9 wks; 9-10 kg) were randomly diveded into equal groups and fed ration containing deoiled mustarad cake at 0 (T1), 50 (T2), 75 (T3) and 100 (T4) per cent as replacement of groundnut cake on iioniirogenwis basis for 16 wks. It was observed that growth, Feed consumption and feed efficiency were sognificantly (P<0.01) lower in T3 and T4 as compared to T1 and T2. The pigiets In T2 performed as good as those in T1 with a saving of about 6% oo feed cost. The carcass characteristics were lower in T3 and T4 as compared to T1 and T2 both of which were quite similar to each other.
