Abstract

Thirty general service (GS) mares at 8 m pregnancy were randomly dtstributed into 3 equal groups and fed a mixture of green besseem and oats ad libitum alongwilh stud concentrate mixture at 0 (A), 1 (B), 3.21 (C) kg lelels. Mean gestation length (332 d) in C was shorter than those of 342 and 346 d in A and B respectively. However, variation among groups was nonsignificant. Mean intake of DM, DCP and DE per kg gain in body weight of mares during pregnancy increased with the feeding of concentrate mixture. The results Indicated scope of feeding cereal-legume mixed fodder during advance pregnancy In GS mares.
