Yield and Quality of Various Varities of Barley Fodder

Abstract

The barley varieties Karan 15, Koran 275, PU 85, K141, P147, BH164, K 396, RR 1518, BH 162 and RD 1517 were tested for fodder production for 2 successsve years slongwith kent variety of oat fodder for reference. Highest green and DM yields were shown by RD 1517 in both the years followed by Karan 15, P 147, K 336, RD 1518, BH 164, K 141, BH 162, Karar 375 and PU 85. The varieties RD 1517 and Karan 15 produced the green yield of 411.08 q/ha and 387.67 q/ha aespectively. These varities also oxhibited higher rutrient composition than others. The highest out-turn of CP and DM production per hectare was generally shown by RD 1517 variety.
