Energy balance studies were conducted using adult Bikaneri rams(25-27m; 16-33 kg) following comparative slaughter technique. The rams were fed a complete feed containing 50 parts chaffed para grass hay and 50 parts concentrate mixture for a period of 90 d. The fasting heat production (KH P) and maintenance energy requirements of adult rams, worked out from the regression of log heat production and metabolizable energy (ME) intake, were 321.7 KJ/W0.75 kg and 505.0 K.. ME/W0.75 kg, respectivele; whereas the ME requirement for muintenance obtained by partitioning of ME intake for maintenance, wool production and body weight gain was 459.4 KJ/W0.75 kg. The partial efficiency of utilization oi ME for lattening (weight gain) and Wool production were 64.0 and 12.0%, respectively. The NK content of the complete feed was 5-53 KJ/g DM.
