Eight crossbred (Jersey x Non descript) cows (3-4 th Lactation; 230-270kg) were divided into 2 equal groups and fed low cost concentrate micture (T1) and standard concentrate mixture (T2) alongwith green fodders and ad lib paddy straw. Roughage : Concentrate ration was significantly (P<0.()1) higher in T1 than in T2, however, the DMI/d and DMI/100 kg body weight did nto differ in T1 and T2. Daily intake of DCP and TDN were significantly (P<0.01) lower in T1 than in T2. Lactation length, 305 days milk yield and daily milk yield were significantly (P<0.05) declined in T1. However, the milk fat and SNF remained uneffected. Feed conversion efficiency of milk production declined signifiantly (P<0.05) in T1 as compared to T2. The daily feed cost per cow in T1 was significantly (P<0.01) lower than T2 The body weight and reproductive performances of the cows in group T1 were partially affected, indicating that the ration in T1 was inadequate.
