One hundred five male commercial broiler chicks (1 d old) were randomly divided into 5 equal groups with 3 replicates each and fed on 2 reference diets, groundnut meal (GNM) + fish meal (FM) (T1) and soyabean meal (SBM) + FM (T2) and 3 test diets, GNM aaone (T3), SBM alone (T4) and sesame meal (SSM) + SBM (T5) in equal proportions duly supplemented with L-lysine HCI and/or DL-methionine for 6wks. However, the weight gains on diets having soyabean meal alone were appreciably better than those on other diets. Feed efficiency on diets containing vegetable protein sources only was better than those containing Fish meal. The feed/gain values on diets containing groundnut meal or soybean meal alone as sole protein source were similar.
