Abstract

A feeding trial was conducted on ninety sexually matured pullete, divided Into five groups of eighteen chicks each with three sub-groups of six pullels in each to replace the groundnut cake (GNC) protein with solvent extracted kosum cake (SEKC))rotein at a levev of 0,15,30,45 and 60% for a period of 12 weeks and subsequently on control layer mash for farther 12 weeks. The body weight gains of pullets on SEKC and control diet feeding akmgwith cumulative gains were non-significant among different treatment groups. The egg productton was signlficantly (P<0.01) tower at and above 30% levels of SEKC. The subsequent feeding of control diet and cumulative feeding iadicaled non-significant difference among different treatment groups. The egg quality traits, feed consumption (g/d/bird) and feed efficiency (kg feed/10 eggs) during different periods were nan-aignificant among different treatments. The cumulative egg production was economical on 60% SEKC suppemented diet. Thus, SEKC in layers’ diet may be Included upto 20% during scarcity period.
