Abstract

Four diets constituted by conbining the sole source of fibre (wheat straw • WS, gran straw - GS) with either of protein supplement (cotton seed cake - CSC, mustard cake MC) were offered to adult male listulated bufaloes in a 4 x 4 lathn square switch over design to ascertain rumen metabolism. The dietry regimens of WS-MC and GS-CSC were relatively better (P<0.05) than WS-CSC and GS-MC in enhancing the synthesis of raminal protein besides exhibiting better DM, ADF and hemicellulose digestibilities. However, It caused a decline in the digestibilities of some other components. There were no differences In n TVFA and total solid contents due to treatments. Significant differences of ramen metabolities in relation to post-feeding were noticed as a function of time.
