Different proportions of cattle dung (CD) and dairy effluent sludge (DES) with rumen liquor inocula were subjected to anaerobic digestion and the relevant chemical analysis Including volatile fatty acids (VFA) and methane production were carried out at different time Intervals. Total solids (TS) and volatile solids (VS) decreased with the progress of digestion. Maximum degradation of TS (23.11 %) and VS (33.24%) were found in case of CD and DKS mixture of 1:1 ratio. The pH decreased in all the slurry samples due to acidogenesis. Maximum VKA was found in 5:1 combination (8190 mg acetic acid/1). Maximum biogas (142.68ml/g VS) production was observed in DES whereas the minimum (32.25 ml/g VS was in 5:1 combination. Maximum methane content (48.95%) was recorded in the biogas produced from the DKS whereas it was minimum (36.32%) in CD digestion.
