The voluntary Intake and digestibility co-efficients were compared using four adult Nellore rams and four Mahaboobnagar bucks. The experimental feeds were maize cobs (ground), spear grass (chaffed) and cotton straw (ground). Animals fed on maize cobs and cotton straw were supplemented with 150 g concentrate, while others were fed spear grass alone. Goats consumed more (P<0.01) DM and water DMI per Kg. than sheep. The digestibilities of DM, OM, and CF were higher in goats fed maize cobs and spear grass than in sheep. However, the differences in digestibilities were not significant, irrespective, of roughage source. Goats had higher digestibilities of EE and NFE than sheep. Nonsignificant differences in the digestibilities of fibre fractions except ADF were noticed In both the species.
