Abstract

A complete feed consisting of 40% coarsely ground dry fallen teak leaves (DFTL), 20% ground-nut cake, 15% maize, 23.2% rice bran extraction, 1.2% mineral mixture, 0.6% common salt and 10g vitablend per 100 kg feed, was fed to five crossbred calves as sani (T1) in trial 1 and as pellets (T2) in trial 2. The T1 feed contained 7.60±0.12% DCP and 44.72±0.64% TDN whereas T2 feed contained 8.41±0.47%DCPand44.62+1.08% TDN. The two feeds did not differ significantly in DM consumption (3.45 and 3.14 kg/100 kg body wt), N(28.34 and 32.20), Ca (8.73 and 10.69), P (14.20 and 17.78) g/d and body weight gain (565.4 and 584.4 g/d). The DFTL can be incorporated at 40% level in complete feed of crossbred calves and can be fed either in the form of sani ro pellets.
