Abstract

Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense) was fed ad libitum to 3 adult sheep for its nutritionak evaluation. The intake of DM was 54.2 g/kg w 0.75/d. The grass contained 6.97 % DCP, 57.81 % TDN and 2.12 Mcal ME per Kg DM and the mean intake of these nutrients was 4.12 g, 31.35g and 117 Kcal/kgW0.75/d, respecttvely. It was concluded that Johnson grass (preflowering stage) can be solely used as a maintenance ration for sheep.
