Descriptive research design was used in this study to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding ill effects of smoking among hospital attendants. This study was conducted in Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences. After obtaining the informed consent, data were collected from 48 hospital attendants using structured knowledge questionnaire. Convenience sampling technique was used. Information booklet was administered to study samples after data collection. Study results revealed that majority of (48%) hospital attendants have moderately adequate knowledge regarding ill effects of smoking. And there is no significant association between knowledge and attitude regarding ill effects of smoking with sociodemographic variables such age, education, locality, source of information received, family habits of smoking.
