The present study entitled “A descriptive study to assess the knowledge and attitude of household members of the family regarding the importance of kitchen gardening in selected areas of Pallithottam, Kollam.” The objective of the study was to assess the existing knowledge regarding the importance of kitchen garden among household members, to assess the existing attitude regarding the importance of kitchen garden among household members, to correlate the knowledge and attitude regarding the importance of kitchen garden among household members, to find out the association of knowledge and attitude of household members with selected demographic variables and to prepare an informational booklet regarding the importance of kitchen garden. The sample comprised of 30 household members in selected area of Pallithottam, Kollam. The tool used for data collection was structured questionnaire for assessing pretest knowledge. The collected data were analyzed by using inferential statistics. The result of pretest showed that 10% had adequate knowledge 73.33% had moderate knowledge and 16.67% had inadequate knowledge. The pretest score of attitude showed that 71% had good attitude, 26.7% had average attitude and 3.33% had poor attitude. It was completed to determine the association between level of knowledge, attitude and selected demographic variables and it shows that there is no significant association with knowledge and attitude.
