Performance of broiler chicken under floor system of management fed with different processed feed and probiotics*

Abstract

An experiment was carried out to find out the performance of broiler chicken under floor system of management fed different processed feed and probiotics. Eight trials were conducted in all season for two years with 80 chicks, each allotted at random to C the group fed on untreated mash, T1 the group fed on mash with probiotics (5g/kg feed), T2-the group fed on UV rays irradiated (at the intensity of 80W/cm2 at 253.7 nm for five minutes) mash and T3-the group fed on UV rays irradiated and microwave processed (1200 W at 2480 MHZ for 5 minutes) with probiotics. Significant (P<0.01) difference in body weight gain, (1573.9±10.2 for C; 1756.2±18.3 for T1; 1756.3±20.7 for T2 and 1690.1±18.1 for T3) and feed efficiency (P<0.05) (2.46±0.02 for C; 2.24±0.04 for T1; 2.17±0.3 for T2 and 2.21±0.03 for T3) were observed. No significant differences were observed in overall mortality but significant difference (P<.05) were observed between seasons in mortality. The cost of production per kg of live broilers were significantly lower (P<0.05) in experimental groups. (Rs. 34.24±0.81, 29.78±0.41 and 30.35±0.88 per kg live weight respectively). While analyzing all the trials, it is concluded that the feeding of probiotics in UV rays irradiated mash promote economically more gain in broiler chicken reared under floor systems of management.
