A survey was conducted among 300 livestock farmers, randomly selected from five regions of Tamil Nadu viz., North west, West, South, High rainfall and Cauvery Delta. Personal interview was conducted among the farmers with pre-tested structured interview schedule. There were 20 goat farming structure noticed. Goat and buffalo predominant, goat farming system noticed in west region. Large numbers of farmers were preferred two species of goat farming structure with the combination of goat and buffalo (15 no. of household) next to this four species of goat farming structure with the combination of goat, cow, buffalo and poultry (12 no. of household). It has been observed that the goat farming structure brings about varying levels of income in accordance with the local condition. Income per cattle unit increased was higher in high rainfall region (Rs. 7609.64) followed by north west region (Rs. 2769.19) with the least income of Rs. 259.89 in south region.
