Abstract

Degnala disease like syndrome was observed consecutively for three years (1994–1995–1996), in Kankrej milking cows in the Semi arid region of the Gujarat State. 67 milking cows were affected by the Degnala like lesions with varying degree of severity. The occurrence of the disease was coincided with the peak winter season during which lush green fodder with high moisture content was fed to the animals. The incidence recorded was to the tune of 15 to 50 per cent during the three years. Lactation yield loss was to the extent of 9 to 22 per cent per week.
