An experiment was conducted to find out peri and post farrowing in primiparous Large White Yorkshire Pigs. Twenty four gilts were selected and randomly divided into four groups, each consists of 6 gilts two under Intensive system and two under semi – intensive system. From each system one under individual housing and other group housing. The mean duration and frequency of standing were significantly (P<0.01) higher for the gilts in individual pen than the gilts from group housed in crate systems during peri and post farrowing period, whereas the mean sitting duration and frequency were higher in crate than in the pen system. The proportion of side lie posture was higher than the other postures viz, standing, sitting and belly lie in all the treatment groups. The mean duration of farrowing was 159.75 and 111.75 min in crate and individual pen irrespective of the systems. Average interpiglet birth internal was significantly (P<0.01) higher in crate (19.53 min) than in pen (11.33 min) irrespective of the systems. The nursing duration and frequency was significantly (P<0.01) higher in pen as compared to crate.
