Abstract

Two alternative forms of logistic-curvilinear model to describe the poultry egg production curve were proposed and compared with 7 existing models viz., compartment, logistic -curvilinear, gamma type, McNally modified gamma type, Adams-Bell, double compartment and linear logistic on the basis of 4-weekly egg production records from 20th to 72nd week of age of Aseel x CARI Red maintained at Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar. The proposed model Nt = a e−bt/(1 + c e−dt + f/t) + t was found best among these models to describe egg production curve and has shown higher predictability power of total egg production records with partial records.
