Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate ammoniated wheat straw on growth performance of Dalagh male lambs. Untreated straw was replace with ammoniated straw by 0, 9, 18 and 27%.24 Dalagh male lambs were used in a completely randomized design and divided in to 4 uniform treatments and each treatment consisted 6 lambs during 84 days. There was a significant (P<0.05) difference in feed intake and economic profits between the control and other treatments. In case of biochemical changes, blood glucose of T2 and T3 treatments were higher than other treatments (<0.05) and blood urea of T4 treatments were much more than others, respectively. The result indicated no significant (P>0.05) difference in body weight gain and feed converstion efficiency. Comparison of means by Duncan's multiple range test showed that the ration 3 (with 18% ammoniated wheat straw and 9% untreated wheat straw) and 4(with 27%ammoniated wheat straw) was better than others. The objective of this study was feeding ammoniated wheat straw on the growth performance and blood metabolites of male Dalagh lambs.
