Light of different wavelength has varying stimulatory effects on the retina and can result in behavioral changes that will affect the growth and development of chickens. In this study, blue (B), green (G), and red (R) light produced by light-emitting diode lamps, as well as incandescent light (W) was used to illuminate 530 female Erlang Moutainous Chickens from 13 to 34 wk of age. All light sources were equalized to a light intensity of 15 lx and applied for 16 h daily. Crown performances of chicken was measured at 27 and 33 wk by Calipers. The results showed that crown height in the red light was the significantly (P < 0.05) lower in all experiment groups and crown length in blue light was the greater than those in other lights. Crown growth in B light was found to be the best, and the crown height and crown length in R light was the worst compared with those in other lights.
