A laboratory experiment was conducted to study the kinetics of reaction of Cd-FA complex in three pairs of surface solis collected from sewage sludge disposal area of Patna, Thermal Power waste disposal area of Baraunl and Cattleshed waste disposal area of Pusa with their respective normal solis. The solis were equilibrated with Cd-FA complex in two sets at 15+C and 35°C separately for 24 hours. The data on the loss of Cd at various time intervals were tested for their fit in the kinetic equations. The data fitted well in the statistical equation indicating thereby, that the reaction involves a very fast instantaneous reaction responsible for the loss of at least ninety per cent of Cd added in a short span of time, a slower reaction obeying inverse exponential first order kinetics and a reverse first order reaction, gained speed with increasing of time. The mechanism of reactlqn of Cd-FA complex within soils is discussed.
