All India Coordinated Research Project on Niger, Zonal Agriculture Research Station, N.A.R.P. Igatpuri-422 403, India.
The phenotypic stability of eight genotypes of Niger grown over seven locations in Maharashtra State was studied for seed yield and five yield attributes. The variances due to genotypes, environments, g x e interactions, environment + (g x e) and environment linear were significant. On partitioning of g x e interaction, both components were significant; however, linear component was larger in magnitude indicating its significance in the inheritance of these traits. In the individual parameter of stability. It was observed that the genotype IGP-76 was found most responsive and stable for all characters studied. The genotype phule-4 was found stable for seed yield and capitula/plant; whereas, UN-4 have shown below average stability for 1000 seed weight and seeds/capitulum.
